The mug finish decides the branding method

Almost all branded mugs for companies are ceramic, but they are not all branded in the same way. A glossy white mug is the classic choice for printing your logo in your exact brand colour, using pad printing or screen printing. A coloured enamel mug, by contrast, tends to look better with laser engraving: the laser removes the glaze and the logo appears in the light tone of the ceramic, with no ink to wear away.

Logo size matters too. A 300 to 350 ml mug gives you plenty of space, and the temptation is to fill all of it. Branding of 5 to 8 cm on one side, with the inside or handle in your corporate colour, creates a mug people are happy to use in front of visitors; a huge full-colour logo turns it into advertising that ends up at the back of the cupboard.

Branding methods for mugs

Each product page shows which methods the mug allows and where the logo can go. The price includes one-colour branding in the standard area; extra colours or another method are adjusted in the quote.

• Pad printing: a silicone pad transfers the ink to the curved surface. Precise flat colours, ideal for small logos or text.
• Wraparound screen printing: the ink passes through a screen while the mug rotates. It covers a wider area and reproduces corporate colours well.
• Laser engraving: removes the glaze layer and leaves the logo in the tone of the ceramic. Permanent, ink-free and in a single tone.
• Full-colour printing: on the models that allow it, for logos with gradients or photographs. It is the first to show wear with harsh washing.

Typical mistakes when ordering logo mugs

• Covering the mug in logo. Less branded area and more blank space make the mug more likely to be used.
• Choosing ink when the dishwasher runs daily and heavily. Ink withstands normal washing, but if the mugs go through a professional dishwasher every day, laser engraving ages better.
• Forgetting about the microwave. Mugs with metallic rims, steel parts or a cork base cannot go in the microwave; each product page makes this clear.
• Choosing an ink colour with too little contrast. A light grey logo on white ceramic disappears at a metre, and you spot it straight away on the mock-up.
• Mixing too many models. The minimum is per item, so one or two well-chosen models go further than five with only a few units each.
• Leaving the order until the final week. Between the mock-up, approval and production, allow two to three weeks.

When a mug works best and what to pair it with

A mug works well in three clear situations. When new people join, because it is one of the first things placed on the desk. In an internal campaign with a message, such as an anniversary or a rebrand, where a short phrase next to the logo says something more. And in remote working, because it arrives in the home office and appears in every video call.

   You pay when you approve the mock-up, never before. Production normally takes two to three weeks from that point.

   Tracked delivery to one address or split between several locations, across the EU. If the branding is faulty, we will remake it at no cost.
